Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis re-signed Keolis to operate the MétropoleMobilité Aix-en-Provence transportation network. The contract announced on July 3 lasted for 9 years from November 4.
Keolis has been operating the network since 2012. It consists of 26 bus lines, including a fast transit route for services in September, 8 on-demand transport services and 4 electric shuttles operating in the centre of Aix-en-Provence. The new school bus route is scheduled to begin service in September 2020. Keolis also manages three parking and transfer services and will manage four additional contracts under the new contract.
Keolis plans to launch a contactless bank card account on BRT services in January 2020, and plans to launch the remaining networks in September of that year.
The contract period is estimated to be 67 million vehicle kilometers per year, with 1.57 million passengers per year, an increase of 31%. Keolis is also committed to increasing revenue by 40%, averaging 47 million euros per year.
Keolis' goal is to reduce the share of cars in urban areas by 50% to 58% by 2025. By 2024, the bus fleet will include 52% of electric vehicles and 48% of hybrid vehicles.
