Light rail to the electrified railway from the city

In recent years, China has helped Ethiopia to promote domestic infrastructure construction. The Addis Ababa Light Rail and the Yaji Railway, built and operated by Chinese companies, are like two shiny business cards that “testify” Ethiopia’s leapfrog development in infrastructure.
In the capital, Addis Ababa, high-rise buildings have risen from the ground, and the endless stream of vehicles is flying on the city roads. The light rails in the city of 4 million people add a modern atmosphere to the local area. The people have brought a lot of convenience to life.
The 37-year-old Tedra is a native of Addis Ababa. Every day at 8 am, he walks 3 minutes to the nearest light rail station to his home, and then spends 4 bills (about one yuan) to buy. On the ticket, after ten minutes, you can reach the supermarket where you work.
In Tedlar's view, the road traffic in Addis Ababa has undergone earth-shaking changes thanks to the infrastructure built by Chinese companies.
In Tedera's memory, Addis Ababa was a dusty dirt road more than a decade ago. Even if some road sections were paved with cement roads, they were very narrow and uneven. “Especially in the rainy season, the city is full of sewage and it is difficult to travel.”
“The light rail has brought convenience to my work and life. I am very proud and lucky to be able to take such modern transportation today.”
The Addis Ababa Light Rail has a total length of 34.25 kilometers and has 39 stations. It is built by the China Railway Second Bureau and is operated by the China Railway Second Bureau and the Shenzhen Metro Company. It has been officially operated for more than 2 years. . At present, the average daily passenger flow has reached 101,000 passengers, and the highest passenger flow per day has reached 185,000.
If the light rail is convenient for the people of Addis Ababa, then the Yaji Railway (built from Addis Ababa to Djibouti's capital Djibouti), built and operated by Chinese companies, will plug in the development of Ethiopian passenger and freight transport. The wings that have soared.
Ethiopia does not have a seaport. Import and export goods depend to a large extent on the port of Djibouti. The construction of the Aji Railway has somewhat reduced the constraints on the economic and social development of Ethiopia.
Abbey, who is doing carpet business in Addis Ababa, will occasionally go to Dreida, which is more than 500 kilometers away from Addis Ababa, to purchase blankets, where the blankets are of good quality and low price. Addis Ababa is selling well. After the opening of the Aji Railway, traffic and freight conditions improved, resulting in a significant reduction in the cost of purchasing blankets from Abbey to Dreida.
This is just a microcosm of the development of passenger transport in Ethiopia by the Aji Railway. According to Hu Shaode, deputy director of finance of Djibouti Port Co., Ltd., the container at Dhabi Port of Djibouti has been transported to Ethiopia via the Aji Railway. The traffic of the Yaji Railway will gradually increase in the future.
With a total length of 752.7 kilometers, the Yaji Railway is the first electrified railway in East Africa. It is jointly constructed and operated by China Railway Second Bureau and China Earth Group. Since the railway officially operated for more than five months, it has sent about 30,000 passengers and transported more than 11,000 containers of various types.
At present, Ethiopia is making full use of the Yaji Railway to build an economic belt along the railway. Several large industrial parks have been planned along the railway, and labor-intensive and export-oriented industries are strongly attracted.
In the future, the import and export of industrial products and raw materials along the Ethiopian railway will be largely completed by the Aji Railway, and will further promote the value of the railway.
